The Institute is able to provide all services as usual subject to Governments’ regulation and advice around the globe.

We have on-line proctoring set up so that examinations may be taken at home or at your office. This is subject to system requirements and other requirements that you should verify before arranging to sit the examination. We are delighted to say this process is in place beyond the period affected by Covid-19. Please see the on-line proctoring page.

Our own office remains closed to all visitors but our telephone lines, e-mail etc. all operate as usual.

Members should be reminded that CPD requirements remain in place and that the Institute will maintain marking of examination papers – it is most encouraging that despite the pandemic members continue to achieve qualifications.

Tuesday, 17th March 2020 - Examinations Update

We understand that members who are working towards CILA exams will have concerns about the COVID-19 virus and so we would ask you to note the following:

You can reschedule your exam

If you have booked an exam sitting you can reschedule this through your online account with Pearson Vue.

Exams can be rescheduled up until 24 hours before the booked exam sitting at no cost however we recommend that you reschedule an exam as soon as possible after making that decision.

Pearson Vue are providing regular updates on the accessibility of their exam centres at:

We would urge CILA exam candidates to reschedule any upcoming exam to avoid taking any unnecessary health risks which may impact them or their friends and family.

You can extend your exam voucher

If you have purchased a CILA exam voucher but have not yet booked an exam sitting, we recommend that you check the expiry date on the voucher and seek an extension if there is less than 6 months until expiry.

In order to request an extension please email the Institute at and provide a copy of your exam voucher. Again, there is no cost to request an extension.

Please be aware that exam voucher extensions are not typically granted if there is less than 48 hours until expiry.
