The CILA Conference 2021 was held at The Slate, Warwick University on the 21st October 2021. Nearly 200 delegates joined us at a new venue for our first physical event since early 2020 and everyone enjoyed a packed day of networking, learning, discussion and debate.

The conference programme was opened by the passionate Flood Re team, Sam Dansey and Maxwell Bero as they explained the opportunity and monetary support to build back better after floods. The Business Interruption SIG presented a lively panel on the recent FCA Test case and ongoing implications, followed by a Question panel in the afternoon hosted by Sue Taylor. The Anti-Fraud SIG bluffed their way through an exciting game of ‘Would I lie to you?’ as they explained three possible Fraud cases they may or may not have investigated. The audience sleuthed their way through the facts and voted whether they thought it true or a lie. And finally our sponsor Hawkins put forward the fascinating Marie Emerson who told us all about robotics and their future in our world.

Our conference was also supported by CILA sponsors who exhibited at the event and provided plenty of giveaways, prizes, games and information on their services. It was wonderful to see our members and sponsors mingle together after so long.

The day was rounded off with the CILA Awards Dinner in the evening when delegates were able to share in the celebrations for our 2020 Award winners and enjoy the (seamless) fun of Malcolm’s Quiz!
