Introduction to the Subsidence SIG from the Chairman:

Subsidence has been and will remain a major area of work for adjusting practices.

Since the first cover was universally offered in the 1970s the methods of handling claims has altered radically. Added to this there has been an influx of many members from other professions which has meant adjusters have been able to bring a wealth of experience to this specialist area.

Many companies have devised innovative ways of responding to the needs of their Principals and these developments continue apace.

It is hoped that the Subsidence SIG will help contribute to the technical expertise of adjusters by providing a knowledge base open to both members and others in the insurance industry, whilst at the same time being a forum for the interchange of ideas.

It is the intention of the Subsidence SIG to work closely with the Subsidence Forum which has already provided a valuable source of information and means for discussion.

I encourage all those working in the subsidence arena to join and support the Subsidence SIG and would welcome any suggestions/ideas.

A programme of events to be held in conjunction with the Subsidence Forum will be published on the website in the next few weeks.
