Introduction to the Liability SIG from the Chairman:

Welcome to the Liability Specialist Interest Group section. Thank you for taking the time to visit the site.

As an existing member of Council, operating primarily in the Liability field, I was very pleased to be asked to take the Chair of the Liability Specialist Interest Group (SIG) during the course of it’s inaugural year.

We have been working very hard since the SIGs inception to provide a meaningful SIG for members and we are pleased that 90 + individuals have, thus far , signed up. The vast majority are from the UK. Utilising my involvement in the International Committee, I hope to draw more synergy into both initiatives and involve our International colleagues more going forward.

Our aim is to provide primarily an educational forum for all members, students through to experienced practitioners and to make our website the first portal of call for members wishing to find out more about educational, technical, social, case law and membership issues.

CILA has firmly established e-communication as the way forward and, with your help, the members, populating our (your) website with topical articles and issues, I have no doubt that this collaborative approach will herald a new era

Currently both the website and the SIG are in their infancy, but they can only evolve with member input, I sincerely hope that we are able to progress as the preferred medium of choice for our members.

An initial Committee has been formed comprising :-

In Simon Burley , we already have a volunteer for educational issues, and Tony Wadey will vet the website content. Educational workshops and forums have taken place and are planned – so please check the site regularly.

Please, please, contact us with any contributions that you have for the site, educational papers, articles, interesting cases, bulletins, technical issues, papers, discussion topics….all would be appreciated.

It only remains for me to thank both the Committee and the CILA secretariat for their unstinting efforts.
