Kennedys

Kennedys is a specialist national and international legal firm with unrivalled expertise in litigation and dispute resolution. We have over 780 people globally, across eight UK and seven international locations. Our lawyers provide a range of specialist legal services for many industries including: insurance/reinsurance, healthcare, construction and engineering, employment, rail sectors, maritime and international trade - with a particular focus on dispute resolution and litigation.
Kennedys is a top 50 law firm. We are regarded as leaders, not just because we have some of the most respected legal minds in their field - but because we know it’s important to be practical, commercial and approachable. We give clear legal advice. That means:
Answers (not just more questions)
Recommendations (not just options)
Strategy and tactics (not just a legal view in a vacuum)
Clear English (not legalese, clauses and caveats)
Of course, we care about the law but we’re also here to make your life easier by making the law make sense for your business. We call this:
Legal advice in black and white
The success of Kennedys in all the markets we operate in around the world is based on the quality of its people. The firm has expanded considerably over the last eight years, largely as a result of organic growth but also by selected lateral hires made to strengthen key areas of expertise. We have a team of 129 partners and over 650 staff worldwide, with UK offices in London, Belfast, Birmingham, Chelmsford, Cambridge, Maidstone, Manchester and Taunton.
In 2000, we opened our first two international offices in Hong Kong and Auckland, followed by Madrid, Sydney, Dubai and, most recently, Singapore. We also have an active network of associated offices around the world situated in Dubai, Dublin, Karachi, Lisbon, Mumbai, New Delhi, Paris, Santiago and Warsaw. Kennedys’ global network enables us to meet the current and future needs of our clients, the insurance market and the aspirations of our people.
Construction, Energy and Engineering
Kennedys’ partners and associates are continually involved with mainstream construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious.
On the contentious side, partners and their teams advise insureds and insurers on the application of policies written in relation to the construction of harbours, tunnels, dams, office blocks, power stations, bridges and roads. In addition, we advise on disputes arising out of such projects for insureds, insurers, well-known employers, contractors and consultants.
On the non-contentious side, the firm is involved in advising employers, banks, contractors and consultants, drafting and negotiating construction contracts, development and finance agreements, performance bonds, consultant appointments and related documentation. Types of projects in which we have been involved include powerplants and major infrastructure projects, office developments, NHS projects (including hospitals and surgeries), schools and universities, retail and housing projects. We also advise on environmental issues and insolvency matters relating to the construction sector.
On the engineering side, we have significant experience of both contentious and non-contentious work; in particular, within the oil and gas and rail industries.
