Construction, Energy and Engineering Forums
Dear SIG Member
Since last writing to you, the new CILA web site has been launched, and to those of you who have yet to visit, I would suggest an early review. Any feedback in relation to our section, or offers of contributions would be gratefully received.
The publications section contains historical articles, (previously circulated), plus two new submissions; the first of which is an aide memiore for basic investigation procedures. The most recent however is an excellent piece entitled CPA Model Conditions of Hire - A Claims Perspective by Richard Pratt of Teceris. It captures the main elements in relation to both claims for loss of, and damage to hired in equipment;and claims for damage to third party property &/or injuries to third parties. I commend it to you. Many apologies to the Scottish membership as no mention is made of SPOA, but if you want to supplement this note please let me know.
The Legal section currently remains under development, but I am pleased to report that negotiations with City based lawyers continue in an attempt to out source and obtain sponsorship. All of this is in the public domain. If you simply Google CILA, we are the first hit from a selection of 1.42m sites, albeit only just ahead of the Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association. There is however a members only Forum section which you can use for all manner of topics.
We will shortly be completing our Constitution, and circulating all members with voting rights relative to democratic elections. Should anyone be keen to stand please let me know. Finally, in terms of delivery, the committee and I continue to work on ideas for a market CPD event to be held in the Autumn if circumstances permit.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Mike Roberts
