Introduction to the Construction, Energy and Engineering SIG from the Chairman:

Welcome to the website of the Construction, Energy and Engineering Specialist Interest Group.

It was a great privilege to be asked to chair the Construction, Energy and Engineering Specialist Interest Group following Mike Roberts' decision to stand down. I was particularly honoured to receive the support of Mike Roberts, who I am pleased to confirm has agreed to remain as a SIG committee member, in addition to the support of the committee.

Firstly I would like to thank Mike Roberts and his fellow SIG committee members for their tireless efforts and valuable contribution to this SIG since its formation. As those of you familiar with this SIG will be aware, the current committee is drawn from leading exponents within our specialist field as follows:

Should any CILA member be aware of anyone who would like to contribute towards the activities of the SIG, or become a member of the committee, then please feel free either to contact me or any other member of the committee.

It has always been the committee’s intention to build upon their commitment to make this website the primary source for educational and technical reference material to assist the practicing insurance professional in his/her consideration of complex construction, energy and engineering claims. It is my intention to see this ethos through. In this regard the committee is already in discussions with our two sponsors Kennedys and LWG. It is sincerely hoped that our members will find the web site to be the main source for reference to assist in their consideration of both technical and legal issues.

In the interim, please feel free to contact me with any contributions that you have for the site whether they be educational, papers, articles, technical issues or discussion topics. Draft technical notes are always welcome subject to review and sign off by myself. Should you wish to suggest any topic then please e-mail details to webeditor@cila.co.uk.
