Introduction to the Construction, Energy and Engineering SIG from the Chairman:

I was honoured to be asked to Chair the Construction, Energy and Engineering Specialist Interest Group through it's formation, until formal elections can be arranged. The initial response from CILA members has been marvellous, with adjusters from the UK, the European States, North and South America, Asia, Africa, India and Australasia having expressed an interest.

Those actively involved wish to see the Group become the recognised forum for this sector of the market, and to provide member adjusters an opportunity to network beyond the adjusting community. Via this web site we aim to engage risk managers, clients, Brokers and Insurers ( both claims and underwriting disciplines ) in technical debate through the publication of appropriate papers and Event news. We are particularly keen to organise truly worthwhile, educational albeit entertaining events, in partnership, with like minded groups and organisations. The need to properly engage both overseas adjusters and markets is a high priority.

Whilst events of this nature take some time to organise, we are forging links with appropriate groups, and regular visitors to this site will be kept appraised through copies of up dates issued to members, and notices relative to the completion of major developments, including a partnering arrangement for a legal review section which, it is hoped will provide a constantly growing database for essential case law relevant to the disciplines covered. Aided by the growing number of technical papers, we aim to provide a vehicle for practitioners at all levels to utilise; and hope this site will be sought out by all in the expectation of receiving something that engages their attention.

Through out the Group's development I have received gracious and valuable assistance from an initial steering group of industry specialists comprising:
