FSA Registration of Dual Qualified CILA Members

The Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD) requires those of us carrying on insurance mediation activities to be authorised and regulated by the FSA.

The regulated activity is ‘assisting in the administration and performance of a contract of insurance’. This includes negotiations a claim on behalf of an insured but not on behalf of insurers. Note that it is the negotiation activity that is regulated and that simply providing information is not regulated.

HM Treasury consultation on ‘a new approach to financial regulation’ consultation document and CILA response

This Consultation paper issued by the Treasury is of interest to our members and, having sought opinion from our members, we have submitted this comment to the Treasury for inclusion within the consultation process.

Whilst CILA members have an overall general interest in these proposals, our comments have been restricted to areas where CILA members have a specific interest.
