Committee Work

Blog entry:

In the last two weeks I have been heavily involved in committee work. We are currently concluding an examination review designed to ensure our exam structure is both relevant and accessible whilst still maintaining the high standard required for full member status.

At Council unanimous approval was obtained for a change of our financial year end to June. The Faculty of Claims, our joint venture with CII, was discussed and we will shortly be announcing our nominee for Chairman of the Faculty Board for the next two years.

The Strategy Committee is chaired by my Deputy, Malcolm Edwards. A five year plan will be published in due course. In the meantime the two key issues are succession planning and exam review. On succession planning, our three pronged approach involves engaging better with our existing ordinary members; identifying the next generation of loss adjusters and how we will attract them; and conducting market research to establish the level and type of demand that will exist for loss adjusters in the future.

I also have regular meetings with my Deputy, and our Executive Director, Graham Cave. One looming issue is that our lease at Peninsular House expires at the end of the year and we are currently looking for a suitable alternative home.
