Press Notice - Cumbria Floods
The extent of the damage following the Cumbria floods is clear for all to see, the implications are immense for the affected local communities and whilst this will be a long process the local community is pulling together with remarkable resilience.
The CILA, via its Business Interruption Group has developed plans in conjunction with local authorities to mitigate the effects. There are coordinated efforts to form temporary shopping facilities to ensure that the effects on the communities can be minimised.
The Business & Economy Recovery Group set up in the wake of the floods has praised both CILA members and the ABI for their active participation in recovery works and for the provision of guidance.
Malcolm Hyde, Executive Director (Technical) of the CILA said, “Having visited the community leaders in the affected area I was struck by their resilience and determination. The praise from local officials for Loss Adjusters and Insurers was heartening; the rebuilding of lives following such events is so often why our members are called into this profession which is in effect a vocation.”
President of the Institute, Graham Burgess said that, “CILA members are again working long hours away from their homes and families dealing with the flooding. I am delighted to see their efforts and the work being undertaken to provide a coordinated response for the benefit of all.”
The CILA has Specialist Interest Groups who have been able to operate via the CILA offices to provide unique joined up coordinated assistance to the Cumbria recovery groups.
